Prof. Myung Receives Academic Awards from Korea Robotics Society and ICROS

Professor Hyun Myung from the School of Electrical Engineering has received academic awards from two major domestic robotics societies, the Korea Robotics Society and the ICROS (Institute for Control, Robotics and Systems).
Professor Hyun Myung was awarded the academic award at the regular meeting of the Korea Robotics Society, held at the SC Convention in Seoul on December 1st. The Korea Robotics Society's academic award is the most prestigious award given by the society at the end of each year. It is awarded to a researcher who has made outstanding contributions to the development of domestic and international robotics technology and related fields through innovative research achievements and publication activities.
Professor Hyun Myung's research team has published over 100 SCI papers and presented more than 300 international conference papers in the field of autonomous robot navigation. Additionally, they received recognition for their excellent achievements, including winning the Autonomous Quadruped Robot Competition at the 2023 IEEE ICRA (International Conference on Robotics and Automation) held in London, UK, and being double-crowned champion of the HILTI SLAM Challenge.
Furthermore, Professor Hyun Myung was honored with the IEEE Academic Activity Award at the regular meeting of the ICROS (Institute for Control, Robotics and Systems) held at the Venezia Hotel in Yeosu on October 19th. The IEEE Academic Activity Award is one of six academic awards presented annually by ICROS and is awarded to researchers who have demonstrated outstanding IEEE-related academic activities. Professor Hyun Myung received this award in recognition of his achievements this year, including winning the IEEE ICRA Autonomous Quadruped Robot Competition and achieving double championships in the HILTI SLAM Challenge.
명현 교수가 국내 로봇 관련 양대 학회인 한국로봇학회와 제어로봇시스템학회에서 각각 학술상을 수상하였다. 명현 교수는 지난 12월 1일 서울 한국과학기술회관 SC컨벤션에서 열린 한국로봇학회 정기총회에서 학술상을 수상했다. 한국로봇학회 학술상은 매년 연말에 시상하는 한국로봇학회의 학회상으로서, 독창적인 연구성과와 저술활동을 통해 국내외 로봇 기술 및 관련 학문의 발전에 탁월한 업적을 이룬 연구자에게 포상하는 한국로봇학회 최고 권위의 상이다.
명현 교수 연구팀은 로봇 자율 주행 분야에서 100여편의 SCI급 논문과 300여편의 국제학술대회 논문을 발표하는 등 관련 분야에서의 학문적인 성과와 더불어, 로봇 관련 최대 국제 학술대회인 2023 IEEE ICRA (Int’l Conf. Robotics and Automation, 영국 런던 개최) 자율보행 로봇 경진대회 우승 및 HILTI SLAM Challenge 2관왕 등의 우수한 성과를 인정받아 수상을 하게 되었다. 또한, 명현 교수는 지난 10월 19일 여수 베네치아 호텔에서 개최된 제어로봇시스템학회 (ICROS) 정기총회에서 IEEE 학술활동상을 수상하였다. IEEE 학술활동상은 ICROS에서 매년 포상하는 6개의 학술상 중의 하나로서, IEEE 관련 학술 활동이 탁월한 연구자에게 수여하는 학술상이다. 명현 교수는 금년 IEEE ICRA 자율보행 로봇 경진대회 우승 및 SLAM 대회 2관왕의 성과를 인정받아 수상을 하게 되었다.
